In our experience, Hoover manufactures some of the best carpet cleaners on the market, and the Hoover Power Scrub is no exception. It was easy to assemble and took less than 10 minutes to put together out of the box. One nice feature with this machine is it comes with a bag to store the tools in – and there are plenty of tools. It comes with three attachments for different types of tasks. The turbo brush is the tool that will be most commonly used, as it will scrub areas like stairs, the carpet of your car or hard-to-reach areas around your home.
This machine also comes with large and medium suction tools that are handy for sucking up spills or rinsing the carpet in hard-to-reach areas after you shampoo. It also comes with a crevice tool for cleaning baseboards or detailing your car as well as a bottle of Hoover Clean Plus All-Purpose Carpet Cleaner and Deodorizer. This is a well-equipped, versatile machine.
When assembling the carpet cleaner, you will need a screwdriver; either a Phillips or a flathead screwdriver will work. You simply have to screw the handle into the main body of the machine and then snap the clean water tank into place above the preinstalled dirty water tank. All the parts, other than the handle, easily snap in and out, making them easy to clean. The clean water tank has a unique design that lets you fill one side with water and the other with the cleaning solution. There are clear fill lines on either side so you won’t over or underdo it when filling up the machine.
This is a lightweight machine that is easy to maneuver. With each pass, you can feel it scrubbing and doing its job. Our test confirmed it cleaned effectively. Our spectrometer readings showed the stained portion of the carpet lightened by 85 percent from when we started. This cleaner competed with the best cleaners when it came to its primary function of cleaning carpets. We emptied a half quart of dirty water after cleaning, which means it is getting the dirt out of carpet.
Its light build was good for maneuverability, but lightweight machines can be less sturdy than their heavier counterparts. This machine, however, has just enough heft to give it stability. We did find that the water with this machine sprayed somewhat unevenly when compared to other cleaners. This was a small complaint since it cleaned effectively overall.
It also extracted an additional 3 quarts of water in the final rinse test, which is a sign of good suction and was on par with some of the best machines in our lineup, leaving the carpet damp but not wet. It has a Force Heat feature that helps dry your carpet during the final rinse. Most importantly, this cleaner did an impressive job of cleaning.
This cleaner comes with an above-average two-year warranty. Hoover also has a nice support system with online tutorials and phone and email support if you have any questions or concerns.

The Hoover Power Scrub is a carpet cleaner that is more compact and relatively affordable and it does a proficient job of cleaning carpets. Its clean water tank has a unique design allowing for water on one side and cleaning solution on the other. It comes with plenty of tools, including a turbo brush and a crevice tool for hard-to-reach areas. It is easy to maneuver and does an effective job of cleaning carpets. This is one of the best carpet cleaner values out there.
